Finding the right bit of audio, music track or podcast might have become that little bit easier with the announcement from Yahoo that the company has launched a dedicated audio search feature on its website.

Yahoo! Audio Search beta, is according to the company, the most comprehensive index of audio files available to UK web users with access to over 35 million audio files from major music services and independent publishers.

The service will allow users to search audio files such as music, podcasts, speeches and interviews.

The Yahoo! Audio Search index includes content from the Web and Yahoo!'s Network properties as well as mainstream and independent providers such as 7 Digital, Apple's iTunes Music Store, Napster and Wippit.

In addition, Yahoo! Audio Search enables independent publishers to submit content to the index through Media Really Simple Syndication (Media RSS), providing users open access to original and timely audio content.
