Acer announces 11.6-inch Aspire One

Acer has extended its Aspire One netbook family with a new 11.6-inch model.

The 11.6-inch Aspire One is equipped with an Intel Atom processor and Mobile Intel US15W Express Chipset and claims 8 hours battery life based on 6 cell 5200 mAh battery.

A notable feature is the touchpad's "multi-gesture" functionality that will let users pinch zoom and "leaf" through pages - interesting to see how that will work on such a small device.

With a 160GB hard drive and a multi card reader, there's also 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G options, Dolby Pro Logic sound and a WXGA back-lit LED screen.

With a "soft-touch" keyboard, the new netbook also offers a microphone and a webcam, measures in at around an inch thick and will be available in four colours - white, dark blue, red and black.

There's no word of pricing or availability from Acer, so we'll bring you more when we have it.
