Google is offering a new experimental Gmail feature via its Gmail Labs called "Search Autocomplete".

Turning on Search Autocomplete from the Labs tab under Gmail settings will mean users get suggestions as they type in the search box.

With one of the most popular searches in Gmail names or email addresses, the first kind of suggestions will be contacts.

Search Autocomplete also promises to speed up searches for photos or pictures, but autocompleting the query for you by inputting "jpg" or "PNG" as well as offering "attachment" search too.
