Samsung has announced the launch of the Samsung Mondi, describing it as the most advanced mobile WiMAX enabled handheld device in the US.

The Windows Mobile 6.1-powered touchscreen MID will launch in the States on the Clear mobile WiMAX service from Clearwire as well as offering Wi-Fi hook up.

With a sliding form factor that reveals a QWERTY keyboard, the Mondi offers a 4.3-inch screen, a web browser powered by Opera 9.5, Bluetooth, GPS and a 3-megapixel camera.

It's unlikely the device will launch in the UK - Milton Keynes is about the only area in the country that enjoys the high-speed connectivity.
