Nintendo has announced a storage solution for the Nintendo Wii at the Game Developer Conference in the States.
Unveiled by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, who also revealed that the Wii has passed the 50 million shipped milestone, it's something fans have been asking for for a long time.
Wii owners will now be able to save downloaded WiiWare, Virtual Console video games, and Channels directly to high capacity SD (SDHC) cards up to 32GB, in addition to SD memory cards.
Launched direct from the Wii menu, this feature is included in the latest version of the Wii System Menu Update, which current owners will receive just as soon as they do a system update.
In addition, Iwata announced a game for the WiiWare downloadable game service called Rock N' Roll Climber, which uses the Wii Balance Board accessory to help users simulate the experience of rock climbing - and a new version of Zelda for the DSi.
The coming soon Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks "will utilise the intuitive touch control of Phantom Hourglass" on the handheld device.
Iwata also gave a glimpse of the upcoming Nintendo DSiWare games and applications such as "Moving Memo", animated flip books and and "WarioWare:Snapped!" that uses the Nintendo DSi's camera.
