EA has announced Need for Speed Shift, the latest instalment in the racing game series, will hit shelves in September.

Need for Speed Shift will feature some of the world's most iconic tracks, including Brands Hatch, and the largest number of high-performance cars in Need for Speed history, including the Pagani Zonda, Porsche 911 GT2 and Lotus Elise.

Patrick Soderlund, senior vice president at EA Games Europe said: "With Need for Speed Shift, we set out to create a racing game that pushes the genre and delivers something never before seen in a Need for Speed title".

"By focusing on the driver’s experience through the first-person view, we are able to capture the high-speed intensity and gripping emotions of racing".

Need for Speed Shift features an all-new crash dynamic and an accurate, accessible physics-based driving model that allows you to feel every impact and track change as if you were driving the real thing.

The game will be released for PS3, Xbox 360, PSP and PC on 18 September. Head over to the Need For Speed website for more information, or check out the gallery for some screenshots.
