Samsung has announced the new N310 "mini notebook", that, with its fairly standard specs, obviously hopes to stand out from the netbook crowd with some fancy styling.

The company says the new netbook "represents that ultimate union of class-leading design and performance as it features the sophisticated styling of Naoto Fukasawa, a leading international designer".

Aimed at the style conscious, with a "lightweight and minimalist form", the N310 gets a sleek frameless screen and 93% of full size "pebble design" keyboard.

With a battery life claim of up to 5 hours, the mini notebook weighs in at 1.23kg, is Intel Atom powered and offers Windows XP.

Other features include a 1.3-megapixel webcam, microphone, 3-in-1 card reader, three USB ports and optional Bluetooth.

The Samsung N310 will be available from May in Europe, Asia and the US, pricing is said to be around £399.
