TomTom has announced that it is bringing its IQ Routes technology to its entry level handsets; The TomTom One and the TomTom One XL.

The new models, which look to be carbon copies of the current One and One XL, apart from the new software features will offer "IQ Routes" allowing road users a better chance of understanding when they will reach their destination.

The new models will also sport "Advanced Land Guidance" so you can see what lane you need to be in, TomTom's "Map Share" technology so you can update the maps yourself with corrections, "EasyPort" mount and maps of the local territory.

As before the TomTom One XL will come with a wider 4.3-inch widescreen display.

Both devices will come with 3 month's speed camera and petrol prices trial bundle for free.

The new models will not however feature the comapny's "HD Traffic" service that constantly connects to find out the latest traffic details on your journey.

No pricing or availability information as yet, however Pocket-lint has learnt that these devices will be getting a Western Europe, ie Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy and Belgium launch ahead of the UK. No UK launch date has been set as yet we understand.

We will keep you posted.

  • I can expect this as a download for my XL then, yes? Much like the interface overhaul that they did many a moon ago that allowed me access to some new novelties in software. Posted by L.Rawlins, UK
