Google removes "dozens" of UK Street View pics

Google has removed "dozens" of photos from its new UK Street View service, reports the BBC.

Images of homes, people being arrested, being sick and coming out of sex shops are thought to be some of the images pulled from the service within hours of its launch.

"We've got millions of images, so the percentage removed was very small", a Google spokeperson told the BBC.

"We want this to be a useful tool and it's people's right to have their image removed. The fact there are now gaps shows how responsive we are".

As approved by the Information Commissioner's Office last year, Google can pretty much post any pics they want taken on a public road, as long as faces and number plates are blurred.

In addition, anyone wanting an image removed can click "report a concern" at the bottom of the screen within Street View.
