Twitter twittering mapped out

A mapping company that creates 3D visualisations and interactions for mapping services like Virtual Earth and Google Earth is allowing Twitter users to follow the Twitterverse around the world as they tweet.

The online demo built by EarthWare uses Microsoft's Virtual Earth service to pinpoint Twitters as they tweet zooming in on their location on the map.

Currently only able to pull data from the global twitter feed rather than just your followers or hashtags, it shows just how global the Twitter community is, as the demo dashes around the world filling you in on the randomness of people's lives.

Running on Microsoft's Silverlight technology, it's a more 21st century approach to twittervision.com, which also tracks people's tweets just not in such a graphical way.

Peaceful? We think it would make a great screensaver for your TV for that social media party you've been waiting to hold.
