Samsung Mobile has moved to rival Apple's iTunes and launched "Samsung Movies", a dedicated movie store for Samsung customers.

The new download store offers 500 movies and TV shows for watching on compatible Samsung phones with another 500 promised by the end of the first quarter.

Downloads will be available to own or rent and content comes from Warner Bros, Paramount, Universal and Momentum Pictures.

Compatible phones at launch only seem to include the new Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition, but more phones will be supported "soon" according to the site.

Samsung says there are also plans to expand this service to notebooks, MP3 and MP4 players and Samsung TVs.

Samsung Movies start from £2.49 for 24 hour rental or from £4.99 to own.
