Extensis plan April launch of Portfolio 7

Extensis has announced the latest upgrade to its digital asset management solution for organising digital photos, documents, and presentations. The new system has a host of features that Extensis hope will make sharing of data as well as archiving a lot easier.

One of the main elements in the new package is the addition of a web based server applet that will allow anyone to serve there library to users either via the internet or an internal extranet with minimal fuss.

The majority of the new features are targeted at streamlining the process of importing, organinsing, and distributing digital files, while the addition of built in CD burning, batch image conversion and embedding IPTC metadata such as copyright information directly into image files will please users will large banks of images to process.

The biggest new element to Portfolio 7 Suite of products is NetPublish - an add on module that automates the process of turning Portfolio catalogues into full-featured websites - with no knowledge of HTML or JavaScript required. The program, which is controlled via a series of wizards includes sites with built-in image search, collection baskets, low resolution previews and batch-download capabilities.

Extensis will be available from April on the PC and May on the Mac with both versions costing £169.95 ex VAT. Upgrades will be available from £75.
