Freecom has launched the "ToughDrive Sport", describing it as a durable, shock-resistant, 2.5-inch external hard drive "designed to endure even the toughest conditions".

Aimed at heavy duty users that want to carry their data on the move, the ToughDrive Sport features a loop in one corner so that it can be attached to a bag or the like.

More importantly, the drive can withstand falls of up to 2 metres and is "fully protected against the adverse weather conditions that go hand in hand with outdoor pursuits".

Complete with an integrated USB cable apparently designed to look and feel like a climbing rope, the drive comes in up to a 500GB capacity, offers a Turbo USB 2.0 connection and password protection.

The ToughDrive Sport is available now in Europe in 250GB, 320GB and 500GB, priced at 109 euros, 129 euros, and 169 euros.
