Also revamping two Resi Gamecube classics

Capcom has announced it will be bringing Resident Evil back to the Wii console this year with Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.

The sequel to The Umbrella Chronicles will hit retailers shelves this winter, no doubt just in time for the run up to Christmas, and will apparently offer a more in-depth co-op experience than the previous addition.

The story in The Darkside Chronicles is based on Resident Evil 2, and includes popular characters Leon S Kenney and Claire Redfield.

With on-rails style gameplay and the same first-person perspective as the last instalment, the game will allow you to play single player with an A.I.-controlled partner, or with a friend in two-player co-op play.

There will also be a new "Evade system" that promises to utilise the Wii Remote for a more intense experience when fighting enemies.

If this wasn't enough for you Resident Evil fans out there, Capcom has also announced plans for a new Resident Evil "Classics" line, which will bring the Nintendo GameCube classics - Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero - to the Wii.

Both set to launch this year, the remake of Resident Evil and Resident Evil Zero have been refitted to support the Wii Remote, and will give the opportunity for new fans to get up to speed on all the franchise has had to offer.

Capcom has promised more information to be released on all Wii releases in the coming months - we'll bring you the news as we get it.
