Android Market update brings paid apps to G1

Aims to offer bigger, better choice for users

T-Mobile has confirmed a key software update development has gone live on the Android Market today, improving functionality and introducing paid apps to the store for the first time.

It is hoped that allowing developers to charge for their games and applications will enable much more content to be developed for the Android Market, with fees funding future projects and improving both quality and choice for users.

One of the first paid for applications to go live today was the Guitar Hero World Tour Mobile game we told you about last week.

Gamers will use the G1’s touchscreen to play along with 15 rock classics including Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water", Guns'n'Roses' "Welcome to the Jungle" and Black Sabbath's "Paranoid".

Despite this news, T-Mobile was still quick to stress for those that don't fancy forking out for their apps - there are still over a thousand free ones to choose from at present, with more being added every week.
