1000th Blu-ray disc released in the UK

Pinnochio marks milestone

The 1000th Blu-ray disc has been released in the UK, according to figures from the British Video Association via Muze Europe Limited.

Pinocchio the Platinum Edition from Disney was the milestone release, coming some 28 months after the first Blu-ray titles landed in Blighty.

In comparison, DVD took less than two years for the 1000th title release to be released.

Those first Blu-ray releases, from Sony back in October 2006 included The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Hostel, S.W.A.T. and Tears Of The Sun.

More recently, last year's best selling Blu-ray title was Warner's The Dark Knight that his since shifted around 350,000 copies.
