Samsung has launched its "next generation" of Q1 UMPC with the debut of the Q1EX that loses the thumb-friendly mini QWERTY keyboard in favour of a full touchscreen interface.The updated Ultra Mobile PC has a 7-inch LCD screen, runs Windows XP Tablet Edition in a 9 x 5 x 1-inch form factor, weighing in at around 1.5lbs.
The Q1EX offers a 1.2Ghz VIA Nano ULV U2500 processor, 2GB RAM, 802.11 b/g wireless, Bluetooth 2.0, a 60GB hard disk drive and the claim of up to 4.5 hours of battery life or 8.5 hours with the extended life battery option.
The screen offers a 1024 x 600 resolution and 300 nits of brightness for what's said to be an "incredible" viewing experience inside or out.
The new UMPC is on sale now in the States for $749.99. It's not shown up on the UK site yet and we're waiting for confirmation on availability and pricing. Hardware, UMPCs, Samsung, Microsoft, Tablet PCs
