Sky News has announced it has appointed a full-time "Twitter correspondent".The broadcaster says the move is a sign of Twitter's "ever-increasing power as an important newsgathering and news sharing medium".
Multi-media producer Ruth Barnett is to be Sky's Twitter correspondent and will "scour" the twittersphere for news stories on a daily basis.
Sky News says it has been using Twitter as a "valuable medium for newsgathering" since July 2007.
