Daily Tech Deal: Google Tip Jar

Money saving deals, offers and innovations

We have an innovative idea from Google today called the "Tip Jar".

The idea behind it is to encourage people to comment and rank various money-saving tips posted by its readers. In time it is hoped that the best tips - those ranked highly by the most people - will work their way to the top.

This comes as possible competition for Martin Lewis' MoneySavingExpert.com, although Tip Jar has a very different look, it offers similar advice with topics such as "At Home", "At Work", "Finance", "Shopping" and "Travel".

With the site, Google appears to be trying to win people over by taking the whole working-together angle:

"At Google, we put a lot of stock in both the wisdom of crowds - the idea that lots of people responding to a given question can collectively find the best answer - and the value of community".

If it sounds interesting click through on the link, and comment below to tell us what you think - and if a tip has saved you money.
