DSGi plans Best Buy-beating Currys super megastores

Be afraid

2 March 2009 15:42 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

DSGi is due to reveal plans for Currys "megastores", described as "very large format".

Although Currys already offers what most would call large shops, usually in out of town purpose built retail centres, the new, bigger shops are said to be "designed to combat the arrival of US electrical retail giant Best Buy later this year".

Analysts and investors are due to see a tour of such new format sites soon with a sample store in Birmingham hoping to generate more investment.

The shop in Birmingham takes up a whopping 55,000 square feet, with five more such shops planned to launch across the UK, if presumably funding, and planning, allows.
