General Imaging launches nine new cameras

General Imaging has announced its 2009 range of GE cameras, with nine new models to be unveiled at the PMA trade show in Las Vegas.

The whole range is set to hit the UK starting with four models in April, and will apparently offer "higher resolution and more powerful zooms" than ever before.

In fact, seven out of the nine models will feature a 12-megapixel resolution and a 5x zoom or higher.

Specific details on all models are limited at the moment, but we do know that the four we can expect in April are the A950, A1150, A1250 and E1255W.

The A950, A1150 and A1250 are 9, 11 and 12 megapixels respectively, all with 5x zoom and 2.5-inch screens, while the E1255W boasts 12 megapixels, 5x zoom, a 3-inch screen and a 28mm wide angle lens.

The rest of the cameras will be released gradually up until November this year.

These include the E1250TW due in May, with 12 megapixels, a 28mm wide angle lens, 5x zoom, 3-inch touchscreen and HDTV-ready output, the basic 10-megapixel A1050 in June, and the waterproof to 3 metres G3WP with 10-megapixel resolution and 4x zoom in July.

Finally in August and November you can expect the E1276W and the X3, both 12-megapixel compacts - the former with a 28mm wide angle lens and 7x zoom, and the latter a bridge camera with a 12x zoom.

In all the cameras you can expect features from earlier models, including blink, smile and face detection, auto-adjust brightness LCD, and in-camera red-eye removal, as well as the new auto scene detection feature and "Pan-Capture Panorama" for panoramic shots.

We'll bring you more details of the cameras when we get them.
