Olympus has announced the launch of the E-620 digital SLR, based on the four thirds standard and apparently the smallest DSLR with built in image stabilisation.

Aimed at enthusiasts who want the size benefit of the E4xx series but with "key benefits" such as an enhanced focus system plus new developments like "Art Filters" and multiple exposures, the E-620 is a 12.3-megapixel offering.

With auto focus live view, the new DSLR offers a "free angle" swing out 2.7-inch full colour HyperCrystal III LCD.

There's also a custom 7-point twin autofocus system, TruePic III+ processor, face detection and shadow adjustment technology, up to ISO 3200, dust reduction, illuminated buttons and 29 shooting modes.

Measuring 130 x 94 x 60mm, the E-620 weighs 475 grams without battery and gets two slots for CF/xD memory cards.

The Olympus E-620 DSLR will be available in May 2009. It includes E-620 body, USB cable, video cable, lithium-ion battery pack, Lithium-ion battery charger, shoulder strap, Master 2 software CD-ROM, manuals and registration card, pricing is TBC.
