eBay auction tools site hit by malware

23 February 2009 16:26 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

Auctiva.com, a web site that offers eBay auction tools, has infected user's PCs with a Trojan virus. The malware was detected by Google that displayed warnings to users.

"It appears the reason these virus alert warnings started showing up on our site is because some of our machines were injected with malware originating in China", said a post on Auctiva's community forum.

"The malware we believe to be at fault has also hit a number of other high-profile websites over the past six months".

Auctiva said it has now cleaned up its servers, but people who browsed Auctiva between Thursday and Saturday afternoon should check their PCs.
