Vodafone and HTC have officially announced the news Pocket-lint broke on Monday, that the two companies would be launching a Android-powered handset and we've already managed to score a video of the new handset away from the bustle of the show.
Will the HTC Magic build on the failings of the G1? Is that on screen keyboard going to be easy to use? Watch the video to find out what we thought.

I ditched my N95 in favour of a G1 last week, and have to say that whilst I wouldn't want to drop it and see all the G1 plastic bits fly off in opposite directions, it's not as bad as some commentators would have you believe.
When you first get the 'phone you'll flatten the battery in no time (but that's because you'll be playing with the browser, GPS and installing apps a-plenty from the store), once you've got into a more normal mode, the battery should last you a day (which is all I ever got out my my N95, so I can't complain).
I miss having the bluetooth A2DP profile, and I'd like to have an on-screen keyboard for those times when you only want to type a dozen characters into Google search without having to turn it sideways and open the keyboard, but neither of these are show-stoppers for me - I'm an enternal optimist and hope that the Android Cupcake update which will give both of these might arrive sometime this decade :-)
But the upside is I'm in synchronisation nirvana, my contacts, calendars and emails all live in the cloud. I ditched Outlook and adopted Thunderbird, so I can use addons that directly access that information when I'm using my desktop.
Oh, and the 'chin', I think I've figured it out - when you've got the phone lying flat, the chin stops the screen from lying on the surface, thereby protecting it.
