Google wins Street View privacy case

The Borings' $25k claim thrown out of court

Google wins Street View privacy case

The Borings, a Pittsburgh couple, have lost their case against Google over privacy issues with the search giant's "Street View" service.

The Borings said when they filed their case last year that the images of their home that appear on Street View "violated their privacy, devalued their property, and caused them mental suffering".

The images of their home on the Google site had to be taken from their long driveway, labelled "Private Road", something that "significantly disregarded (their) privacy interests".

The Borings wanted more than $25,000 in damages as well as for the images to be destroyed.

The US District Court for Western Pennsylvania has dismissed the suit, stating the Borings "failed to state a claim under any count".
