Firebox is offering the Flip Mino HD on a pre-order basis with delivery planned for April.

The tiny camcorder offers the ability to shoot in 720p widescreen and has 4GB of flash memory built-in that offers an hour of storage for HD video right out of the box.

Another new feature is the built-in video editing application called FlipShare, that offers both Mac and Windows users a basic suite for altering clips and the like.

The Mino HD records to MPEG4 format and claims around 2 hours battery life.

Firebox is yet to confirm the price, but has £169.95 on the pre-order page with the promise they'll let you know if it turns out to be more.

  • I got my wife a Flip Mino (not HD) for Christmas, and we've used it to record a tour of a house my daughter was interested in, some special music at church, and other family events. Most recently my 14-year-old daughter has used it to record a skit she and some other students were doing for school. We then edited and combined her various clips for a DVD she could hand in.
