Canon updates PowerShot A-Series

Canon has launched its 12.1-megapixel PowerShot A1100 IS and PowerShot A2100 IS that it says "gives everyone the power to take great photos".

Both models offer Canon's new scene detection tech through an easy mode and new smart auto mode. Also featured are motion detection and face detection as well as a range of scene options.

Featuring optical zoom lenses of 4x and 6x, the PowerShot A1100 IS and PowerShot A2100 IS are powered by Canon's DIGIC 4 image processor.

The A2100 IS features a 3-inch screen while the A1100 IS gets a 2.5-inch LCD and both models can capture video at 30fps.

Powered by AA batteries, the PowerShot A1100 IS is available in blue, pink or silver, while the PowerShot A2100 IS features a "classic black" design.

The A1100 IS will be available from mid-February at £219.00/259.00 euros while the PowerShot A2100 IS will be available from April priced at £259.00/309.00 euros.
