i-mate Centurion smartphone debuts

MWC 2009: Credit card sized handset for the weekend

17 February 2009 16:56 GMT / By Stuart Miles

i-mate is to launch a miniature smartphone later in the year that is the size of a credit card, Pocket-lint has learnt.

Currently codenamed the Centurion, after the elite American Express card, the new "quaint" handset will come with HSDPA connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth, microSD and a 2-megapixel camera on the back.

Expected to be launched around midsummer in the UK it will cost around $550 without contract and come loaded with Windows Mobile 6.5.

As the gallery of pictures show, it is so small it is only just bigger than a credit card. In fact it is small enough to fit in the "condom" pocket of a pair of men's jeans.
