Fujifilm has launched the FinePix S1500, a compact, lightweight camera aimed at advanced amateur photographers.

The 10-megapixel camera features a 12x optical zoom lens (33mm-396mm equivalent), face detection technology, dual image stabilisation and ISO levels up to 6400 (at 3MP).

It also benefits from the new tracking auto focus function, which allows you to track a moving subject and maintain focus, the Panorama Shooting mode for big landscape shots and instant zoom.

For sports and action shots, the camera can fire an impressive 7.5 frames per second up to 15 frames (at 2MP) or 3.3 frames per second up to 6 frames (at 5MP) in Continuous Shooting mode.

Once images have been recorded, they can be viewed via high speed playback, which displays 10 frames per second, or Micro Thumbnail view, which shows up to 100 thumbnails at once.

The FinePix S1500 features an internal memory of 52MB and operates on four AA batteries. No further details have been released as to pricing or availability, but we'll update you when we hear anything.
