Acer will launch a Snapdragon powered laptop in the near future Pocket-lint has learned.

The move, which will see the new Qualcomm processor currently found in the Toshiba TG01 make a move into laptops, has been confirmed by Qualcomm's senior vice president for Europe Enrico Salvatori.

"We are working with Acer on a device of that nature", Salvatori said when pressed on which companies would be using the new chipset in a laptop.

Qualcomm hopes its Snapdragon chipsets will allow it to offer a more vital competitor in mini-laptops as it takes on PC processor makers Intel, AMD and Via.

The Qualcomm chipsets come with 1GHz Arm processing cores and Qualcomm technology to connect mini-laptops and other gadgets to 3G mobile phone networks.
