Mario & Sonic 2 confirmed

This time at the Winter Olympics

Sega and Nintendo have today confirmed the rumours that were swirling last month, by announcing that Mario and Sonic will be reuniting once again in another sporting game - this time at the Winter Olympics.

Officially named Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, the popular duo will be taking their rivalry on to the snow and ice in late 2009, when the game will be released for the Wii and DS.

The game will be set in Vancouver, the host city of the 2010 Winter Games, and will see gamers once again choosing from a legendary cast of playable characters, including a few new additions to the series that will be revealed later this year.

There will obviously be all new events, such as Alpine Skiing and Speed Skating, and we're told anyone with the Wii Balance Board will be able to make use of this in some of the games for an added experience.

Expect more information to be announced throughout the year, which we'll be sure to get to you as soon as we have it.
