Samsung "not in a rush" to launch Android phone

"Happy" to aim for second half of 2009

Despite suggestions that the company were due to unveil something Android-based at this month's Mobile World Congress event, Samsung has informed Pocket-lint this is not the case.

The Korean phone maker has said it is "not in a rush" to bring out a mobile based on Google's open source operating system, despite being a founding member of the Open Handset Alliance when it was formed back in 2007.

Ms YoungHee Lee, Samsung's vice president overseas marketing, mobile device division, telecommunication business told Pocket-lint:

"Samsung is in talks with partner operators and planning to bring out an Android product in H2. Samsung is not in a rush, rather happy to give its designers time to deliver the very best Android phone to the market".
