Dell launches Wasabi pocket printer

Dell has launched its new Wasabi PZ310 ultra-mobile printer designed for instant photo printing at anytime, wherever you are.

If this sounds familiar, it's probably because Polaroid released a very similar product in mid-2008 in the form of the PoGo printer.

Both print wallet-sized 2 x 3 inch borderless colour photos (sticky-back optional) and use the inkless Zink printing technology.

The Wasabi is also similar in that it has a number of different ways in which you can print your snaps. It is Bluetooth-enabled for direct printing from your camera phone, PictBridge compatible to print straight from your camera and features a USB lead to hook the device up to your computer instead.

Compact and lightweight, the Wasabi is easily portable and features user-friendly buttons that make working it "intuitive and easy".

The Wasabi printer is also available in three different colours - pink, black and blue. That's one more than the PoGo's choice between pink and black, just in case that's important to you.

Other than that, they seem pretty much identical - even down to the sizing and weight. However, the Wasabi does just pip the PoGo on how long it takes to print a photo - it promises 55 second per snap, compared to the PoGo's 1 minute.

The Wasabi is available in the States now at a promotional price of $99 (£68) - but will retail regularly for $149 (£103). If this is comparable to UK prices, it will come in cheaper than the PoGo which may be a swaying factor for many.
