PC World launches The TechGuys "Remote Assist" service

"Magic button" on PC invokes Intel vPro tech

PC World is debuting an interesting use of Intel technology with the launch of The TechGuys Remote Assist service available with its latest range of Advent PCs.

The computer retailer is now selling its own-brand computers complete with 24-hour remote technical support from The TechGuys free for the first year.

Using Intel's vPro technology, primarily used by business' IT departments, The TechGuys will be able to remotely diagnose, and in many cases fix, common PC problems.

When experiencing technical difficulties, owners of the Remote Assist-enabled PCs can call The TechGuys and press what the company calls a "magic button" on the front of the machine to give the support chaps remote access to their computer.

The first of the new Advent machines that offers the Remote Assist service is the Advent QC-6003 with a 19-inch monitor that boasts a Q8200 Intel Quad Core processor, 6GB RAM, a 640GB hard drive and Intel GMA X4500HD graphics.

The second is the Advent QC-8003 with a 22-inch screen that gets 8GB RAM, is powered by Q8200 Intel Quad Core processor, offers a 1TB hard drive and Nvidia 9600 GT 512MB graphics card and a Blu-ray combo drive.

The Advent QC-6003 is £579.99 and the Advent QC-8003 is £899.99, both available at PC World stores across the UK and online at www.pcworld.co.uk.
