Apple has announced its figures for its iPod sales at MacWorld in San Francisco, showing that the company's dominance of the MP3 player market is going nowhere but up.

In his keynote speech to MacWorld 2006, Steve Jobs said that in the run up to Christmas Apple sold over 14 million iPods, or to put it another way 108 every minute 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the 3 month quarter.

This brings the total sold across the range to over 42 million world-wide. In connection with this the company has also said that it has sold some 850 million tracks through its iTunes Music Store.

“We are well on our way to hitting a billion in the next weeks”, said Jobs to the crowd of journalists watching in San Francisco and via satellite in London.

The CEO also said that “Since we launched on October 12th we have sold over 8 million videos”.
