The launch date for the new 17-inch Apple MacBook Pro has been pushed back, it's being reported.

Apple had originally planned to start shipping the new notebook that it announced at the Macworld event, by the end of January, but those hoping to pick one up will have to wait a little longer.

Those who order the new model have received an email informing them of the delay, with a shipping date of 19 February now promised.

"Wrapping up the new 17-inch MacBook Pro is taking a few days longer than we expected", Apple has said.

The 17-inch MacBook Pro offers the new "unibody" design of the other updated MacBooks and claims to offer a 8-hour battery life. Pricing starts from £1949.
