Resident 5 demo hits 1.8m downloads

PS3 version now playing catch up

Capcom has seen an impressive interest in its demo for the upcoming Resident Evil 5 game, with 1.8 million downloads stacked up in just over a week.

And lest we forget, this number is just from Xbox 360 members alone - Gold members managed to rack up 1.3m downloads in their 3 days exclusivity period, while the rest were made up after the demo became available for everyone on 29 January.

The PS3 demo went live yesterday on PSN, and Capcom are no doubt hoping for a similar success on Sony's console.

Resident Evil 5 will be released on both Xbox 360 and PS3 on 13 March in Europe and North America. It will be released a week earlier in Japan, on 5 March, but will be called Biohazard 5.

If you've downloaded the demo for either console, let us know your thoughts in the comment section.
