Altec Lansing has announced the launch of a new iPod docking speaker designed for outdoor use at CES in Las Vegas this week.

The new model, called the iM9, comes in a shock-resistant rubberized case, with built-in splash resistance and a rugged backpack-style carry bag (included), it's safe to take with you on your next hike.

The iPod sits in the middle of the speaker set and Altec Lansing offers a series of docks to fit all the available iPods currently available.

Like previous Altec Lansing speakers sets, the iM9 will offer charging and syncing, and the model even comes with a composite video out cable to take advantage of the iPod video, video capabilities.

Priced at $199.99 in America, the device has yet to get a launch date or price in the UK, however a spokesman on the stand told Pocket-lint that more information was likely to become available following a European announcement at CeBIT in March.

We will keep you posted.
