New phones launched in Cannes from Panasonic, Motorola, and Nokia

Among the first announcements to be made at the 3GSM conference at Cannes, Motorola, Panasonic and Nokia have all announced new phones running the Symbian OS platform.

The Panasonic model - the X700 is a clamshell designed phone that features a Mini SD card slot allowing you to share images and data with other Panasonic devices such as its PVR systems and digital cameras. The phone also features a built in VGA camera, photo light, Bluetooth, tri-band connectivity and colour screen are some of the features that Panasonic hope will sway the public.

The Motorola A1000 3G is the latest addition to Motorola's growing 3G portfolio. The model offers video conferencing capabilities, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and PDF document viewing capabilities via Picsel Document Viewer and full HTML browsing for mobile office experience.

The pocket-sized model A1000 also boasts tri-band, Bluetooth, an integrated 1.2 mega pixel digital camera with 4x digital zoom, multi-media streaming, capture and playback with MPEG4 and MP3 files and dual-audio speakers.

Noikia's phone is a follow on to its brick shaped Commuicator - the 9500. This years model is smaller and lighter than its predecessors, and boasts integrated Wi-Fi for greater and faster connectivity.

Aimed at corporates the 9500 features integrated IBM software, including its Notes e-mail package, although Microsoft users need not panic as the phone is still compatible with Microsoft applications.
