"Provides reliable storage for all of your files"

Official Google GDrive reference spotted

30 January 2009 11:35 GMT / By Amy-Mae Elliott

That Google is to launch its "GDrive", a sort of online hard drive, has been talked up since 2006, with rumours of an imminent launch once again gathering pace around the Internet.

As well as broadsheets getting hold of the story and predicting the "death" of the PC, new evidence is said to have come to light proving the existence of such a system.

A tech blogger has noticed a reference to GDrive in a file used by Google Pack, describing the GDrive's product category as for "online file backup and storage".

The text reads: "GDrive provides reliable storage for all of your files, including photos, music and documents. GDrive allows you to access your files from anywhere, anytime, and from any device - be it from your desktop, web browser or cellular phone".

With no comment from Google, we will bring you more when we hear it.
