Nokia 6700 classic announced

Nokia has announced the Nokia 6700 classic, the successor to the 6300, apparently one of Nokia's most popular devices.

Promising "to set a new benchmark for mid-range devices", the new phone offers a full metal keymat and is said to take elements of style from the company's Nokia 8800 Arte range.

The 6700 classic boasts a 5-megapixel camera, assisted GPS navigation with Nokia Maps, and high speed data access.

"The Nokia 6300 has broken all sales records for a mid-range mobile device since its launch in 2006. Now the legacy continues with the Nokia 6700", said Mark Loughran, managing director, Nokia UK.

"The beautifully premium design and expert functionality of the Nokia 6700 makes us confident this will be one of our best selling devices in 2009 and will set a new standard for the mid-range mobile device".

The Nokia 6700 classic is expected to start shipping in July 2009, and will be available in the UK at an estimated pre-tax retail price of £220, from the Nokia online shop.
