Nintendo helps Amazon towards best Christmas on record

Tops all "Best of 2008" video game and hardware categories

Nintendo has helped Amazon have its best Christmas on record this year, topping all of its video game "Best of 2008" lists and selling big numbers of both its games and consoles during the festive period.

The Amazon "Best of 2008" lists were released today, with four titles up for grabs in the video games and hardware category. They were determined by Amazon sales figures.

The Nintendo Wii was the best-selling games console, while the most loved product was deemed to be Wii Fit. The fitness game was also the most-wished-for product, while the most popular gift product was Mario Kart Wii with Wii Wheel.

"We are extremely grateful to our customers", said Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.com. "We wish everyone happy holidays and the very best for the coming year".
