Call of Duty holds strong at top of UK charts

Sixth week in top spot, bookies cut Xmas No.1 odds

Call of Duty holds strong at top of UK charts

The top three positions in the All Format UK Charts are unchanged this week, with Call of Duty: World at War holding its spot at the top for the sixth week.

Mario Kart Wii follows in second and Fifa 09 in third, but these are thought to be so little of a threat now that Ladbrokes has cut the odds on Call of Duty being Christmas No. 1 to 1-3.

This certainly seems a good move, considering the fact that Chart Track has said there is some 27,000 units between first and second place, making it almost inevitable COD will sit atop of the charts on Christmas day.

If Nintendo does somehow pull through over the next week, it will be the platform's first Christmas No. 1 since The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in 1998.

As there were no new releases this week, there was very little movement throughout the rest of the chart either, with games such as Need for Speed, Tomb Raider and Guitar Hero swapping places in the top ten.

Good news for LittleBigPlanet and Sony is that sales were boosted 58% this week, pushing Sackboy from 29th to 16th position in the All Formats chart, and at sixth in the Individual Formats.

Other big movers include Sonic Unleashed which jumped from 33 to 12 and Quantum of Solace taking a leap from 27 to 13. Elsewhere there were re-entries for Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party, Cooking Guide, Force Unleashed and Lips.
