Microsoft has released some statistics that seem to prove that Xbox Live is more popular than ever since the New Xbox Experience was launched.

Xbox Live's Major Nelson said that the number of new friends added per Xbox Live member has risen by a third since the release, with the number of unique visitors to Xbox Live being 66% up on last year.

The first game to have avatar support, Kingdom for Keflings, has recorded the second best first-week sales ever for an Xbox Live Arcade title, while the rather old UNO game which was patched to include avatar support saw its sales boosted by 650% in just one day.

More statistics for you - film downloads have risen by 49% and TV demand by 30% since the NXE went live.

There are now more than 14 million people using Xbox Live. Time will tell if PlayStation Home, launched today, will register a similar sort of interest.
