EA and Dice have released this video to give us some idea of what we can expect from the Mirror's Edge DLC due next year.

Set for release in late January, there will be nine new races available for the Time Trial mode. However, as you may notice from the video, they are very different from what you'll be used to in the game.

"The freedom of movement and control in first person has been the most popular aspect of Mirror’s Edge so we decided to distil these down to their purest form for this map pack", says Owen O’Brien, senior producer at DICE.

"We deliberately chose a more abstract aesthetic that is still within our distinctive art style and then focused on flow and gameplay to create an experience and challenge very different from the main game”.

The races will cost $10 (around £6.80) or 800 Microsoft Points each. PS3 gamers will also be able to download an additional tenth map for free, which must be the exclusive PS3 DLC we were told about in September.

Also announced at the same time as the DLC was the PC version of the game, set for worldwide release on 16 January, with North America getting the game a few days earlier on the 13th.
