Microsoft confirms Xbox 360 Jasper consoles available

Microsoft has confirmed the rumours that its latest internal redesign of its Xbox 360 console is now available on our shelves, with Arcade versions of the console getting a little something extra too.

The new Jasper motherboards are said to finally banish any worries of the dreaded red ring of death thanks to 65nm CPU and GPU chips that lower power consumption and heat when gaming.

This should, therefore, also make for quieter gaming, as well as higher reliability.

Microsoft has also confirmed that the Arcade console now boasts 256MB of internal memory, which saves gamers the hassle of having to use a memory card or external hard drive to install the New Xbox Experience.

A Microsoft spokesperson said: "We are constantly updating the console's more than 1700 internal components. We can confirm that we are moving to internal memory for the Xbox 360 Arcade. The physical internal memory is the same size as the previous external memory units – 256MB".

Apparently one way to tell a Jasper from Falcon is the 150w power consumption of the machine’s power brick. Keep your eye out folks.
