So we still may have no release date for Europe, but Nintendo's third generation DS handheld, the DSi, has seen great sales in its first month on sale in Japan.

Figures from the country show that the DSi has passed the half million mark, with 535,379 consoles sold in the first month. This is only just pipped by the DS Lite which sold 550,000 in its first month.

Rather impressively, total sales for the DS handheld in the region, including figures for the original DS, DS Lite and DSi, now stand at a whopping 24,239,590.
