GTA IV PC to come with DRM software

But no limit on installations

GTA IV PC to come with DRM software

Rockstar has said that Grand Theft Auto IV for PC will come with DRM software, but that there won't be a limit on installations.

The rather unpopular anti-piracy software often limits the number of times a game can be installed on new machines, but Rockstar says it has worked hard on making it as easy as possible for legitimate gamers to use.

You should only have to authenticate the game once online, even if you uninstall and reinstall it at a later date, and if you don't have access to the Internet, Rockstar has said you'll be able to authenticate it via any other net-enabled PC.

You'll also be able to install the game on a number of different machines, but will always need the game in the disc drive to play.

"We have worked very hard to ensure that our solutions do not persecute the legitimate players of our games," said Rockstar.

"Implemented correctly, SecuROM is the most effective form of disc-based copy protection and allows us to manage authenticity on a global level for Grand Theft Auto IV".

The game will install a number of applications including Games for Windows, Adobe Flash, Internet Explorer, SecuROM and the Rockstar Games Social Club software.

Grand Theft Auto IV for PC is set for release on 3 December.
