Off-board fun and double the tricks

EA has announced Skate 2 will be released in January 2009, the sequel to its original Skate game launched in September last year.

While American gamers will see the game on January 21st, it will hit UK shelves on January 23rd.

Skate 2 brings gamers to New San Vanelona, a city that’s been rebuilt after an unspeakable disaster five years ago. Equipped with double the number of tricks, players are aiming to rebuild their career and revive the skate scene in the city.

The sequel will also allow you to get off-board and move objects around, meaning gamers can create their own skating spots and challenges which can then be uploaded and shared with other gamers around the world.

Of course, any players that can't wait until January, EA is also launching a web-based customisation tool called the Graphics Creator next month on the Skate website. This will allow gamers to create custom graphics for their in-game hates, decks and shirts.

The game is set for release on PS3 and Xbox 360. American gamers that pre-order will get a code to unlock the Throwback Pack featuring a variety of retro clothing and accessories, but there's no word on anything similar for us as yet.
