iRIVER is expected to announce a new handheld games console to go up against Sony's PlayStation Portable and Nintendo's DS.

Called the G10 the new games console will be launched at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week.

The news has been leaked by Arikabara News, although details are still sketchy.

According the site, the console will run on Windows Mobile 5 and have between 4 and 8GB of storage space for games.

The site is also suggesting that the device will come with a 4-inch WVGA (800x480) screen capable of displaying 260K colours.

It is not the first time the company has dabbled in the games market. Last year, iriver announced the iriver H10 will be the first portable audio player to seamlessly enable playback of protected content, including subscription content, from a portable device docked to the Xbox360.
